SOLVED - Re: /etc/hosts contents

hi all,
sorry for the delayed response and thanks for all the
responses.
the problem was that i was missing the line:
lookup file bind
from /etc/resolv.conf
the server was looking for a host
"localhost.mydomain.com" from my ISP.
i had changed this from DHCP to static and i think the
server just grabbed the last resolv.conf that was sent
from the DHCP server. i guess that's the point of
resolv.conf.tail.
