First I'd use non-HTML mail. And specify a Subject in your mails.
And then, much is a matter of taste (and needed additional features).
For me, at home it works ok with sendmail and the default configuration.
On my work box, I've changed to exim (from ports). A server I run
together with a few friends runs postfix (now on some Linux based stuff,
but we used to have an OpenBSD based server and ran postfix, from ports,
there too).
