Changing partition size oh-oh

Hello all -

I had wd0g as a 6G partition for /usr . Using disklabel I reduced it -2G but
hadn't umount the partition beforehand. Not seeing the change, I reduced
another -2G which put the partition at 2G with 2.7G worth of software. D'oh.

Now I'm getting "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" errors when trying to do
simple things like use joe for editing etc. I need to stop messing with this
problem til I have a clear idea on where to go from here. Can it be saved or
reinstall?
