You can also build ports with BULK=Yes (which can be placed in /etc/mk.conf), which will clean ports after building them. I'm running AMD64 hardware, and getting ready to upgrade to OpenBSD 4.4 on my firewall/router. I've looked over ppp(8) and Googled for OpenBSD kernel PPP setup in various forms, and still I'm not clear on how to set this up for 5 static IP addresses. Is there a clear setup guide somewhere for this that works for version 4.4? I just don't seem to be able to find anything that's clear and concise on what I need to do. Especially for multiple static IP's. Hope somebody can steer me in the right direction. Call me dense... What do you mean by "5 static IP addresses"? (The problem part is the "5".) For one static IP address, you want to force the negotiation with the peer to give you the address you want or go away. This is done with the ":" option, as in 0:123.123.123.123 where 0 means "I'll accept whatever remote address you want to use" and 123.123.123.123 means "give me this IP address, or die". > Is there a clear setup guide somewhere for this that works for > version 4.4? Clear? No, but the pppd manpage is OK. This same code is pretty much the same across *BSD, so maybe the FreeBSD manual and docs would help. The format is documented in `man hostname.if`. Your gateway is stored in /etc/mygate, unless you are using DHCP. If you are using DHCP then you can just do # echo "DHCP" > /etc/hostname.fxp0 if you have a static configuration do something like: # echo "inet 192.168.0.9 255.255.255.0" > /etc/hostname.fxp0 # echo "192.168.0.1" > /etc/mygate # echo "nameserver xx.xx.xx.xx" >> /etc/resolve.conf and then # sh /etc/netstart to reset the interfaces with the new settings Above all else, read the manpages. You can trust them.
